POLICY WIRE — Singapore — A Singapore fitness instructor, Rasidah Caudal, has refuted rumors linking her to the resignation of former acting minister-in-charge of Muslim affairs, Faishal Ibrahim. Caudal told This Week in Asia on Monday that she had filed a complaint with Singapore’s Online Safety Commission, which addresses online harms such as doxxing and harassment, and intends to lodge a police report.

Faishal, 58, resigned from the cabinet last Monday. Caudal emphasized that she had no inappropriate interactions with the former minister. “I want to make it clear that the rumors are unfounded,” she stated.

The Online Safety Commission confirmed receipt of Caudal’s complaint but declined to provide further details, citing confidentiality. A police spokesperson said they’re yet to receive a formal report from Caudal.

This development comes amid heightened scrutiny of public officials’ conduct in Singapore. The government has previously emphasized the importance of maintaining high ethical standards among its ministers.
