World’s ‘Grumpiest’ Pallas Kittens Debut at Japan Zoo

POLICY WIRE — Tokyo, Japan — Five young Pallas’s cats, often referred to as the world’s grumpiest felines due to their sullen facial expressions, have begun public display at Kobe Animal Kingdom in Japan. The four male — and one female kittens, all born in May at the facility, were introduced to visitors last week.

Pallas’s cats, believed to be one of the oldest living cat species, are native to the dry, rocky regions of Central Asia. Kobe Animal Kingdom noted that these animals are not commonly exhibited in zoos because they’re relatively more sensitive to infections.
