The Food and Drug Administration confirmed that Chilean supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. updated its recall to warn consumers that the berries may be contaminated. The company cited a precautionary measure following tracebacks linked to an earlier blueberry recall. The contaminated products have been tied to an E. coli outbreak that affected 17 individuals across Florida and Georgia, with six hospitalized but no fatalities reported.
The CDC concluded its investigation into the outbreak on September 21. The affected items include specific universal product numbers, with best-by dates ranging from January 2028 to June 2028. The products were distributed to Walmart stores in 30 states and Puerto Rico, as well as Trader Joe’s locations in 26 states. Consumers are urged to discard or return any recalled items for a full refund.
