POLICY WIRE — London, UK — Princess Eugenie, daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, announced the birth of her third child on Tuesday. The newborn, whose name hasn’t yet been disclosed, was born in Lisbon, Portugal.
The birth alters the British line of succession. As of now, the infant is 12th in line to the throne, following Prince Edward — and preceding Lady Louise Windsor. The announcement was made via an official statement on the royal family’s social media channels.
Princess Eugenie is the younger daughter of Prince Andrew — and Sarah, Duchess of York. She is the ninth grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II. Her first child, August, was born in 2021, — and her second, Ernest, followed in 2023.
The recent addition to the royal family continues to expand the lineage of Queen Elizabeth II, whose reign has seen significant changes in the monarchy’s structure and public perception.
