Moonshot Execs in Talks to Settle Shareholder Dispute Before Hong Kong IPO
Moonshot AI executives negotiate with Recurrent.ai over legal dispute ahead of Hong Kong IPO. Potential $700M settlement under discussion.
POLICY WIRE — Beijing, China — Top executives at Chinese artificial intelligence startup Moonshot AI are engaged in discussions to resolve a legal conflict with a major shareholder as the company prepares for its planned Hong Kong initial public offering.
The dispute involves Recurrent.ai, which claims that Moonshot’s leadership misrepresented key business practices and acted in self-interest, allegedly harming its financial interests. The shareholder is seeking compensation equivalent to 10.5% of the company’s value, potentially exceeding $700 million.
Moonshot, known for its large language model Kimi K3, is aiming for a Hong Kong IPO in early 2027 after achieving a $50 billion valuation. The company has already raised $31.5 billion in funding and is exploring further capital through additional rounds. Meanwhile, it is also considering a dual listing in Hong Kong and Shanghai to enhance fundraising opportunities.
