Mitchells & Butlers Reports Slump in Food Sales Amid UK Heatwave

POLICY WIRE — London, UK — Mitchells & Butlers (M&B), a prominent pub and bar operator, has disclosed a significant downturn in food sales, attributing the decrease to the recent hot summer weather.

The company noted that the heatwave has led to a reduced demand for traditional pub meals, particularly steak and carvery offerings at its Toby Carvery and Miller & Carter chains. Customers appear to be opting for lighter fare — and beverages as temperatures soar.
