POLICY WIRE — Stourbridge, UK — West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has confirmed that two fires, which led to the complete destruction of 19 homes and damage to 18 others in Stourbridge, were started accidentally.

The fires, initially reported on Stourbridge’s golf course, quickly spread, causing extensive damage. The blazes were ignited in fields where agricultural machinery was in operation.

The fires, which erupted on August 13, spread over more than 500 acres in the West Midlands. The properties destroyed included family homes valued at over £1 million.

Fire chiefs revealed that the wildfires were accidental, stemming from the use of farming equipment in the fields. The WMFS continues to investigate the exact causes and circumstances leading to the fires.
