Vance Acknowledges Economic Recovery Timeline: ‘We’re Turning the Ship Around’
Vice President Vance addresses economic concerns, stating that fixing the nation's economy will require more than 18 months of sustained effort.
POLICY WIRE — Michigan, USA — Vice President Vance cautioned that restoring the nation’s economic health will be a gradual process, noting that the country’s challenges cannot be resolved in a single presidential term.
During a town hall event in Michigan scheduled for broadcast Saturday evening, Vance addressed a small business owner who expressed concerns regarding current financial struggles. He emphasized that reversing the nation’s economic trajectory will likely require more than 18 months of work.
Public sentiment remains largely negative, with recent polling indicating that a majority of Americans are dissatisfied with the economy and frustrated by inflation. Many voters currently attribute these ongoing financial difficulties to the policies of the Trump administration.
In contrast to the public’s outlook, President Trump has maintained a highly optimistic assessment, recently awarding his administration an A+ grade for its economic performance.
When questioned by CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil about the President’s positive characterization, Vance explained that the administration is focused on securing significant new investments. He noted that the current strategy involves a necessary sequence of development, stating, “But he would be the first person to tell you that you gotta build the factories first, before you can employ the workers working in those factories.”
Vance reiterated his commitment to the administration’s long-term strategy, adding, I think what we’re doing is, we’re turning the ship around.
