HDFC Bank Q2 Net Profit Climbs 4.7% to Rs 19,510 Crore, Missing Street Estimates
Explore HDFC Bank Q2 FY27 earnings as India's top private lender reports a 4.7% net profit rise to Rs 19,510 crore, narrowly missing analyst forecasts.
POLICY WIRE — Mumbai, India — HDFC Bank, the largest private-sector lender in India, announced its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027 on Saturday, registering a net profit increase of 4.7 percent year-on-year to reach ₹19,510 crore for the period ending September 30, 2026.
The quarterly earnings figure narrowly missed consensus analyst expectations. While the institution experienced robust core lending expansion and solid growth in its core interest income, the bottom-line performance was tempered by a notable slump in treasury and other income, alongside elevated operating expenses and higher provisions set aside for bad loans.
Net interest income, defined as the difference between interest earned and interest expended, climbed 9.7 percent to hit ₹34,620 crore for the quarter. Meanwhile, gross non-performing asset ratios showed an encouraging improvement, standing at 1.11 percent as of the conclusion of September.
During the same three-month reporting period, the major financial institution reported net income reaching INR 207,000.3 million, marking an increase from INR 196,106.7 million during the corresponding timeframe a year prior. Basic earnings per share stemming from continuing operations was recorded at INR 13.
