Valencia CF Secures Major Investment from KKR-Backed Consortium
Spanish soccer club Valencia CF confirms a 42% stake sale to a KKR-backed group, valuing the team at €1.25 billion with fresh capital injections planned.
POLICY WIRE — Hong Kong, Hong Kong — Spanish football club Valencia CF announced on Friday that an investment consortium supported by KKR co-founders George Roberts and Henry Kravis has agreed to purchase a 42% stake in the organization.
The transaction values the club at €1.25 billion, or approximately $1.4 billion, a figure that accounts for the team’s existing debt. The deal involves the acquisition of shares currently held by Meriton Holdings.
As part of the agreement, Pitchwise Holdings—a firm backed by the KKR co-founders and the Penner Sports Group—will inject €100 million of new capital into the club. Despite the significant minority stake sale, Meriton will maintain majority control, and Peter Lim is set to remain in his position as president.
