The incident occurred the previous day when Eddings instructed Rincon to straighten his cap, leading to an argument and the ejection of Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol.

During pregame warmups, most Cardinals players wore their hats at an angle, and many continued to do so in the dugout. Some even tilted their batting helmets to celebrate reaching base. Several Rockies players also joined in by wearing their caps askew.

Rincon, through an interpreter, stated that Eddings had apologized to him during a brief conversation on the field. However, Marmol found no meaningful resolution in his pregame talk with Eddings, describing it as lacking substance.

Marmol expressed his dissatisfaction with Eddings’ actions, calling it a ‘power-hungry move.’ He cited examples of other players, such as Dontrelle Willis, CC Sabathia, and Pedro Strop, who have worn their caps more tilted without issue.
