POLICY WIRE — Middlesbrough, UK — The sons of a police officer tragically killed in a head-on collision on the A66 near Middlesbrough fulfilled a poignant tribute by leading Manchester United out as mascots during a home match on Sunday.
PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, along with five young occupants of a VW Passat, lost their lives when the vehicle traveled on the wrong side of a dual carriageway in the early hours of Saturday, August 22.
PC Blades, known as a devoted ‘Red’, was a regular at Old Trafford with his sons. Their appearance as mascots for the Premier League match against Ipswich Town was a heartfelt moment for all in attendance.
The emotional event saw the two boys walk alongside the Manchester United team, honoring their father’s memory and his love for the club.
