Wise Raises Revenue Outlook as Cross-Border Transaction Volumes Surge
Money transfer firm Wise boosts its fiscal 2027 revenue growth forecast following a sharp rise in cross-border payments and active customer numbers.
POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — International money transfer provider Wise announced on Thursday that it anticipates full-year revenue growth to reach the upper end of its projected range. This positive outlook follows a second quarter marked by robust customer acquisition and a significant uptick in cross-border transaction volumes.
For fiscal year 2027, the company now expects net revenue growth to track near the top of its 15 per cent to 20 per cent target. Additionally, Wise maintained its income-before-tax margin guidance, keeping it near the upper limit of its 20 per cent to 25 per cent range.
The firm’s performance highlights a growing appetite for low-cost international payment solutions. As both individual consumers and corporate clients move larger sums across borders, they are increasingly utilizing digital platforms to hold funds, driving net revenue up 21 per cent to $739.1 million for the second quarter.
Operational data shows that cross-border payment volumes climbed 22 per cent to $71.7 billion, while the total number of active customers grew 20 per cent to 12.5 million. Furthermore, customer holdings on the platform saw a 28 per cent increase, reaching $43.5 billion.
Despite these gains, the company’s cross-border take rate—the revenue earned per dollar transferred—dipped to 0.49 per cent from 0.52 per cent a year prior. This decline is attributed to strategic price reductions aimed at capturing a larger share of new customers.
While Wise continues to scale its global payments network, it faces regulatory hurdles in the United States. In July, authorities denied the firm’s application to establish a national trust bank, though the company has confirmed its intention to reapply for the license.
