POLICY WIRE — Bristol, UK — Vertical Aerospace, a leading developer of electric flying taxis, has announced securing an additional $100 million in funding. The capital injection is aimed at accelerating the development — and commercialization of its air taxi technology.
The funding round was led by several prominent investors, including investment firms and strategic partners. This new investment brings the total capital raised by Vertical Aerospace to over $300 million.
“This funding will allow us to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in urban air mobility,” said Michael Cervenka, CEO of Vertical Aerospace. “We’re committed to making sustainable, efficient air travel a reality for cities around the world.”
Vertical Aerospace’s VX4 aircraft is designed to carry up to five passengers over distances of up to 100 miles, with a top speed of 200 mph. The company plans to begin commercial operations by 2025, pending regulatory approvals — and further testing.
The announcement comes amid growing interest in urban air mobility solutions as cities seek to reduce congestion and emissions. Several other companies are also developing similar technologies, indicating a competitive landscape in the emerging market.
