Andriy Sybiga, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister, confirmed the nationalities of the crew members. Prime Minister Sergiy Koretsky condemned the attack, stating it underscores the dangers posed by Russian military actions in the region.
This attack comes hours after Moscow launched a fresh barrage of missiles at Kyiv, further escalating tensions between the two nations. The Golden Leo was reportedly navigating through waters considered hazardous due to ongoing military activities.
