The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that 65-year-old Dr. Vincent Brown, formerly known as Dr. Vincent Bajinya, faces serious allegations regarding his involvement in the mass killings. The defendant, who previously resided in Kigali and currently lives in Islington, north London, is set to appear at Westminster.

Prosecutors allege that Dr. Brown directed and incited acts of murder and genocide committed by others during the conflict. The charges include one count of conduct ancillary to genocide and six counts of conduct ancillary to murder as a crime against humanity.

These charges are brought under section 52 of the International Criminal Court Act 2001. This case represents a significant legal milestone as the first instance of charges related to the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda being filed within the United Kingdom.
