Sherri Shepherd to Star as Genie in ‘Aladdin’ on Broadway

POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — Sherri Shepherd is set to take on the role of the Genie in the Broadway production of ‘Aladdin,’ marking a new chapter in her career.
The Daytime Emmy Award-winning host and NAACP Image Award winner will begin her performance on October 16 and continue until January 3. She expressed her excitement about joining the cast, saying she never imagined she would be part of the ‘Aladdin’ family.

Shepherd has been preparing for the role by taking dance and voice lessons and practicing her rendition of “Friend Like Me” during city walks. She also shared that the role is out of her comfort zone but aligns with her philosophy of embracing challenges. This will be her second Broadway appearance, following her role as the Stepmother in ‘Cinderella’ in 2014.
