The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m., with the aircraft coming down on the property of the Ojo Santa Fe Spa Resort, located south of the city. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the plane descend under its large, deployed parachute.
Emergency Parachute Credited with Saving Lives
A spokesperson for Santa Fe County confirmed that the successful activation of the aircraft’s parachute system was critical. The two individuals aboard the plane were able to escape the wreckage following the controlled descent.
Both survivors were transported to a local hospital for precautionary medical evaluations. Officials have stated that they are expected to make a full recovery. Authorities provided a summary of the immediate aftermath:
