POLICY WIRE — New York City, United States — A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot a person in the Marble Hill neighborhood of New York City on Thursday, according to law enforcement sources.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. local time near West 225th Street and Marble Hill Avenue. The victim was taken to a hospital, where they are reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by the NYPD.

Despite the involvement of an ICE agent, the NYPD stated it was not directly involved in the shooting. Footage from the scene showed multiple law enforcement officers present, along with a gray vehicle displaying a bullet hole in its windshield. Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared on social media that a 5-year-old child was in the same vehicle as the injured individual when multiple shots were fired, though the child was unharmed.
Mamdani also announced he had contacted President Trump to demand an end to all ICE enforcement activities in the city. The FBI is assisting investigators from the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, while Governor Kathy Hochul called for full transparency regarding the event. City Council Speaker Julie Menin expressed deep concern over the incident and the impact it may have on immigrant communities in New York.
