Former Arizona GOP Chair Accuses Turning Point Action of Severe Electoral Damage
Former Arizona Republican Party Chair Gina Swoboda blames Turning Point Action for GOP losses, calling for the group to stay out of future elections.
POLICY WIRE — PHOENIX, Arizona — Gina Swoboda, the former leader of the Arizona Republican Party, has issued a sharp critique of Turning Point Action, arguing the organization should cease its involvement in electoral processes.
Swoboda, who was personally selected by President Donald Trump to lead the state party during the 2024 cycle, suggested that the political arm of Turning Point USA must take accountability for recent political setbacks.
In a blunt assessment, the former chair stated, I think Turning Point Action killed the party, while specifically emphasizing that the group should remain away from Republican primaries.
The remarks have sparked a significant backlash within the party, with some local Republicans dismissing Swoboda’s comments as “sour grape rants” occurring as the political landscape shifts toward the 2026 General Election.
The friction stems from two interviews posted on X.com just five days prior to the November 3 midterm elections, where Swoboda criticized various candidates supported by Turning Point.
While Turning Point USA traces its origins back to Arizona, the organization did not provide a formal comment regarding the claims made in a Phoenix New Times report.
Swoboda’s criticism specifically focused on the organization’s financial expenditures within Legislative District 3.
