Daisy Edgar-Jones Reports Hearing Loss Following Intense Twisters Filming
Actor Daisy Edgar-Jones reveals lasting hearing damage in one ear after filming the disaster sequel Twisters, citing intense wind and debris on set.
POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — Actor Daisy Edgar-Jones has revealed that her work on the disaster film Twisters resulted in lingering hearing damage in one of her ears.
The 28-year-old performer, who portrays a former storm chaser in the standalone sequel to the 1996 classic, attributed the injury to the extreme weather conditions simulated during production. She noted that the constant exposure to wind and debris from a specific angle left her with a persistent deficit in her left ear.
During an appearance on the Therapuss podcast, Edgar-Jones described the irony of the production environment. While filming in Oklahoma, the crew frequently had to pause operations due to genuine wind storms, only to immediately return to work to recreate similar conditions for the camera.
Despite the physical toll, the actor previously shared with The Hollywood Reporter that the stunt-heavy nature of the project sparked a new professional passion. She credited the production’s stunt department for maintaining safety while immersing the cast in intense sequences involving rain, wind, and flying debris.
Edgar-Jones is now transitioning to a project with significantly less physical demand. She is set to star as Elinor Dashwood in a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, directed by Georgia Oakley.
The upcoming adaptation aims to provide a modern and distinctive perspective on the source material. Edgar-Jones told British Vogue that she holds the 1995 version of the film in high regard, but is excited to explore the wilder, more rageful elements of the characters for a new generation.
