Oxford Quantum Computing Spinout QuantrolOx Secures £10M Funding Boost
Oxford University quantum computing spinout QuantrolOx secures £10 million in fresh funding to advance AI-powered qubit control software.
POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — QuantrolOx, a quantum technology startup that originated as an Oxford University spinout, has successfully secured £10 million in a fresh funding round to accelerate its automated control software.
The firm previously earned early backing from Arm Holdings founder Hermann Hauser. QuantrolOx specializes in developing Quantum EDGE, an advanced platform driven by artificial intelligence and machine learning designed to automate the bring-up, characterization, tuning, and optimization of quantum chips, with a particular focus on superconducting quantum computers.
By utilizing machine learning to tune, stabilize, and optimize qubits, the technology-agnostic platform drastically reduces qubit initialization and characterization times from several days down to mere seconds. This operational efficiency allows a single expert to oversee multiple quantum computers simultaneously, rather than needing a dedicated team of three to four specialists.
The enterprise builds machine learning software specifically tailored for quantum control with the ultimate objective of maximizing quantum computer uptime. A total of 14 investors contributed to the latest financing round, featuring key backers such as Leo Capital, Oxford Science Enterprises, Serendipity Capital, The Nielsen Company, and the European Innovation Council.
Within the broader quantum sector, QuantrolOx navigates a competitive landscape that includes approximately 19 rival entities, among them Quantum Benchmark, Phasecraft, Zapata Quantum, D-Wave Quantum, and DataRobot.
