Eternal Projects Faster Blinkit Expansion as Quarterly Profit Nearly Doubles
Discover how Eternal expects accelerated Blinkit growth and strong revenue gains after reporting a nearly doubled quarterly profit.
POLICY WIRE — New Delhi, India — Eternal anticipates that the growth pace of its Blinkit quick-commerce division will speed up starting from the December quarter as market competition stabilizes.
The parent entity of Zomato and Blinkit revealed that its consolidated net profit for the September quarter nearly doubled to Rs 125 crore, moving up from Rs 65 crore during the same period a year earlier.
Despite the strong performance, the quarterly profit figure fell short of market expectations, which subsequently triggered a negative reaction among investors.
revenue from operations surged 78 percent year-on-year, standing at Rs 24,138 crore for the second quarter of the current financial year compared to Rs 13,590 crore previously.
India’s fast-delivery firms have actively scaled up their networks of compact warehouses known as dark stores to satisfy soaring demand for rapid grocery fulfillment while fighting for market dominance.
During the latest quarter, Eternal successfully added 308 new Blinkit locations, bringing its total footprint to 2,751 stores.
The firm now projects that its store count will exceed 3,500 by March 2027, with ambitions to reach approximately 5,000 stores by March 2028.
Furthermore, the corporation announced a 5.4% stake acquisition in Mygate implemented through a share swap arrangement.
Company leadership indicated that Blinkit profitability is on track to hit the upper threshold of previous forecasts as network efficiency improves alongside expansion.
Historical data shows that Blinkit’s net order value expanded at a 104 per cent compound annual growth rate between fiscal years 2023 and 2026.
Looking ahead, management anticipates that growth will sustain an annual rate above 60 per cent CAGR across the subsequent three-year period.
