New Mexico AG Files Lawsuit Against Jeffrey Epstein’s Lawyer and Accountant
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez sues Jeffrey Epstein's attorney and accountant, alleging they concealed sex trafficking at Zorro Ranch.
POLICY WIRE — Albuquerque, United States — New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez initiated a legal action Wednesday targeting the former attorney and accountant of Jeffrey Epstein, accusing them of actively concealing a widespread sex trafficking scheme at the financier’s isolated New Mexico property.
The civil complaint aims to block lawyer Darren Indyke and accountant Richard Kahn from collecting any financial disbursements from Epstein’s estate, which is valued in excess of $100 million. Both men currently act as coexecutors, and Torrez cautioned that they stand to capture substantial financial gains unless a federal judge intervenes.
Indyke represented Epstein for approximately two decades, while Kahn managed his financial books. Although both men previously testified before Congress that they had zero knowledge of any illicit sexual abuse, Torrez asserted during an Albuquerque news conference alongside two survivors that the operation required extensive facilitation from handlers, attorneys, and financial professionals.
Legal counsel representing Indyke and Kahn issued a statement rejecting the accusations entirely, emphasizing that state officials never requested interviews prior to filing the litigation. Defense attorney Dan Weiner noted that not a single victim ever accused either man of participating in or witnessing sexual misconduct.
The state’s latest legal maneuvers follow an earlier $35 million class-action settlement agreement negotiated by Indyke and Kahn with Epstein survivors, in which the coexecutors admitted no wrongdoing. Torrez’s office seeks to potentially recover additional funds and ensure broader accountability for enablers associated with the late financier, who died by suicide in a New York jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting federal trial.
