POLICY WIRE — Atlanta, USA — Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels was transported off the field on a stretcher during the third quarter of Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Bears.
The injury occurred following a tackle on Bears tight end Colston Loveland. Daniels remained down on the turf for several minutes as medical personnel stabilized him on a backboard, securing his head, shoulders, body, and legs before moving him to a cart.
As he was being transported away, Daniels signaled to the crowd by clenching his left hand into a fist. The team later confirmed he would not return to the game due to a neck injury.
The scene prompted a somber response from both sidelines. Falcons defensive players initially took a knee, eventually joined by the entire team bench, while several Chicago Bears players also knelt in support during the medical evaluation.
Daniels, a fourth-round draft selection out of Oklahoma, has established himself as a key contributor in his debut season. He entered Sunday’s contest with 22 tackles and had started six games for the Falcons.
