Spanish athlete Diego Poncelet sets a new Guinness World Record, reaching a blistering 151.83 kph on a skateboard in Quebec. Discover the historic feat.
POLICY WIRE — Madrid, Spain — Spanish downhill skateboarder Diego Poncelet has officially etched his name into the history books, securing a new Guinness World Records title for the fastest speed achieved on a skateboard while in a standing position.
The 27-year-old athlete reached a staggering velocity of 151.83 kph (94.34 mph) during a high-stakes run on September 22, 2026. The record-breaking performance took place on a closed section of Route du Port in Les Éboulements, located within the Charlevoix region of Quebec, Canada.
Poncelet, a two-time world champion and Red Bull athlete, managed to eclipse the previous benchmark of 146.73 kph (91.17 mph), which had been held by British rider Pete Connolly for nine years on the same stretch of road. Reflecting on the achievement during an interview in Madrid on October 14, 2026, Poncelet remarked, If a record has stood for nine years, you do not just break it by a little bit, you destroy it.
The successful run was supported by Red Bull and featured custom gear from Prada Linea Rossa. By surpassing the long-standing record, the Spanish rider has solidified his status as the fastest person to ever ride a skateboard while standing.
