Jamie Carragher avoids bankruptcy after settling tax bill with HMRC. Judge dismisses petition, ending financial dispute.
POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher has escaped bankruptcy after resolving an outstanding tax debt with the UK’s HM Revenue and Customs.
The case involved a bankruptcy petition that was initially filed in August. However, Judge Nicholas Briggs ruled to dismiss the petition against Carragher, who is now 48 years old, following the settlement of the unpaid tax liability.
Carragher, a well-known figure in football, had faced legal action over the unpaid taxes, but the matter was resolved without the need for further proceedings. His legal representative, Kevin Hassan, played a key role in facilitating the agreement with HMRC.
