POLICY WIRE — Washington, United States — Katie Zacharia, President Donald Trump’s newly appointed White House press secretary, made a brief appearance before reporters on Tuesday, delivering a short statement and answering a handful of questions before ending the session abruptly.
Zacharia, a conservative commentator and former spokesperson for Trump’s social media company, took over the role following Karoline Leavitt’s departure in August. During her first press conference, she emphasized her commitment to amplifying Trump’s policies and stated that the president is “his own best spokesperson.” She concluded the session quickly, directing reporters to ask the president their questions directly as he prepared for a campaign trip to Alaska.
In addition to her brief remarks, Zacharia announced that Trump had requested the resignation of U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, citing allegations of improper conduct. She expressed appreciation for Guilfoyle’s service but said the decision was made by the president. Zacharia also highlighted her goal of continuing her advocacy for Trump’s agenda from within the administration.
