Chuck Lorre Reveals Hugh Grant Almost Replaced Charlie Sheen on ‘Two and a Half Men’
Chuck Lorre reveals Hugh Grant nearly replaced Charlie Sheen on 'Two and a Half Men' before Ashton Kutcher took the role.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — A new revelation from producer Chuck Lorre has shed light on the casting process that followed Charlie Sheen’s departure from the hit sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men.’ The show, which aired from 2003 to 2011, saw Sheen fired in February 2011 due to personal issues and conflicts with the show’s creator.
Lorre revealed in an interview with E! News that Hugh Grant was among the actors considered for the role. He described how scenes were written specifically for Grant, envisioning a character similar to his comedic style. According to Lorre, Grant was offered $750,000 per episode and a four-day workweek, but ultimately declined the opportunity.
After the deal fell through, CBS president Les Moonves encouraged Lorre to meet with Ashton Kutcher instead. Kutcher went on to play the lead role, helping the show continue for four more seasons. Lorre praised Kutcher as sharp, funny, and a genuinely wonderful human being, adding that the collaboration brought stability and success to the series.
