McDonald’s Monopoly Returns in 2026 with App-Only Gameplay
McDonald's Monopoly game returns in 2026, now requiring the app for participation. Learn how to play and claim prizes.
POLICY WIRE — City, Country — McDonald’s Monopoly promotion is making a return in 2026, but with a significant shift toward digital engagement. The iconic game, which had been absent for a decade, will now be accessible exclusively through the fast-food chain’s mobile application.
The new format requires participants to download the McDonald’s app, join its Rewards program, and register for the game before they can order eligible food items that come with game pieces. Players will still need to peel the pieces from their food, such as large fries or drinks, and scan them via the app to continue playing.

This year’s campaign starts on October 6, with over 640 million game pieces distributed across participating locations. Prizes include free meals, a Carnival cruise, a 2027 Jeep Cherokee, up to $50,000 for home down payments or college debt, and cash awards of up to $1 million. The change comes after the company faced public scrutiny following the “McMillions” scandal, which led to the game’s temporary suspension in 2015.
