POLICY WIRE — Georgetown, United States — A Kentucky man who claimed a record-breaking $167.3 million Powerball prize has been arrested again, this time for being intoxicated and asleep in a running vehicle at a Walmart parking lot.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning in Georgetown, approximately 15 miles north of Lexington, after police received a report about a white Mustang with a temporary license plate stopped in an intersection. Deputies later found the car parked and running near an electric vehicle charging station with James Farthing, 51, inside and unconscious.

Authorities stated that Farthing exhibited signs of alcohol and marijuana use, including slurred speech and difficulty standing. He was charged with public intoxication and taken into custody. This arrest marks the fifth time he has been detained since winning the lottery in April 2025, which included prior charges related to domestic violence, burglary, and assault.
