POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — President Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed that billionaire Elon Musk was in communication with both him and Russian President Vladimir Putin as the full‑scale invasion began.
Speaking to PBS NewsHour, Zelensky noted, “At the very beginning of the war, Elon had communication with Putin and with me,” but offered no timeline or subject matter for those exchanges.
The remark arrives amid heightened scrutiny of Musk’s involvement in Ukraine’s access to Starlink satellite internet, a lifeline the country has relied on since the conflict erupted.
The Wall Street Journal has separately reported that Musk and Putin maintain regular contact, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing debate over the tech mogul’s role in the war.
