POLICY WIRE — Moscow, Russia — Ukrainian strikes have resulted in the deaths of six individuals in Russia’s Belgorod region, according to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the acting governor. A 14-year-old child was among the four others injured in the attacks.
Gladkov provided the details via his Telegram channel, stating, “Unfortunately, as a result of the strike, six people were killed, including one child. A 14-year-old child and four other people were injured.” He further noted that the child had been taken to a hospital in Moscow for treatment.
The strikes come amid escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia, with both sides reporting cross-border attacks. The Belgorod region, located near the Ukrainian border, has seen increased military activity in recent months.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the incident. However, Russia has previously accused Ukraine of carrying out strikes on its territory, a claim Ukraine often denies.
