Five workers were injured following a Ukrainian drone attack on an industrial facility in Russia's Perm region. Authorities report damage to the site.
POLICY WIRE — Perm, Russia — A drone strike targeting an industrial facility in Russia’s Perm region has left five workers injured, according to regional governor Dmitry Makhonin.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, resulted in physical damage to the industrial site located in the Ural Mountains. Despite the impact, Governor Makhonin stated that the facility has continued to maintain normal operations.
Reports indicate that the strike was part of a broader wave of drone activity across several Russian regions on the night of September 25. Governors in Voronezh, Ulyanovsk, and Rostov also reported similar aerial raids during the same timeframe.
While initial reports regarding the extent of the damage varied, industry sources noted that the Perm oil refinery—the seventh-largest in Russia—halted operations following the attack. The strike reportedly triggered a fire and caused damage to pipelines, storage tanks, and processing units at the site.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene immediately following the explosions to manage the aftermath. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident as the facility works to address the structural damage.
