Sir Ian McKellen Makes Surprise Cameo on Strictly’s Halloween Special
Strictly Come Dancing's Halloween week gets a surprise boost with Sir Ian McKellen's voice cameo in group dance, featuring Tame Impala's Dracula
POLICY WIRE — London, UK — In a surprising move, renowned actor Sir Ian McKellen is set to make a voice cameo appearance on the BBC’s popular dancing program, Strictly Come Dancing, during its upcoming Halloween special.
The 87-year-old actor’s voice will be featured in a group performance on Sunday’s results show, accompanied by Tame Impala’s track Dracula, as the professionals perform a routine that culminates with McKellen reading an excerpt from Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel.
Meanwhile, the show’s Saturday lineup has been revealed, with couples performing a range of dances, including the jive, Viennese Waltz, salsa, Charleston, and quickstep, to songs by various artists such as Fifth Harmony, Rogers and Hammerstein, and Little Mix.
Sunday’s show will also feature a special performance by Becky Hill and the show’s first-ever dance-off, where three couples will compete, and one pair will be eliminated by the judges.
Earlier this week, McKellen paid tribute to his longtime friend Patrick Stewart, who passed away at the age of 86, describing him as a beloved and respected actor of his generation.
The live show will air on Saturday at 6:30 pm, and the results show will air on Sunday at 7:10 pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
