Seven Hospitalized Following Overnight Shooting Near Indiana University’s Campus
Bloomington police are investigating an early morning shooting on East Kirkwood Avenue that resulted in at least seven people being transported to hospitals.
POLICY WIRE — Bloomington, Indiana — Bloomington law enforcement are currently responding to a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of East Kirkwood Avenue during the early hours of Sunday. Emergency responders arrived at the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. following reports of a significant disturbance and active gunfire.
Authorities confirmed that at least seven individuals sustained injuries in the incident and were transported to local medical facilities for treatment. The shooting took place while large crowds were gathered in the area for homecoming weekend festivities.
Officers were patrolling the intersection of Kirkwood Avenue and Dunn Street when the shots were fired. While the investigation remains ongoing, police have indicated there is no active threat to the public at this time.
