Philippine Exorcism Center Attracts Regional Clergy Amid Rising Cases
Asia's only dedicated exorcism center in Manila draws priests from across the region as exorcism cases increase.
POLICY WIRE — Manila, Philippines — Asia’s only dedicated exorcism center, located just off a busy thoroughfare in Metro Manila, is attracting priests from across the region. The center, designed to train both Philippine priests and clergy from neighboring countries, features warmly lit halls leading to a chapel where the 400-year-old ritual of exorcism takes place.
Inside the center, rooms are neatly prepared for visiting priests. Holy relics used in the exorcism proceedings line one wall, while another wall is equipped with a one-way mirror, allowing family members and novice exorcists to observe the rituals.
The rise in exorcism cases has led to an increased demand for specialized training. The center, known as the Michael Centre for Spiritual Healing, has become a crucial hub for clergy seeking to enhance their skills in performing exorcisms.
“The number of cases has been piling up, and there’s a clear need for more trained exorcists,” said a center official, who preferred to remain anonymous. “Priests from various Asian countries are coming here to receive proper training and to learn from experienced practitioners.”
The center’s chapel, where the exorcisms are conducted, is a sacred space imbued with centuries-old traditions. The rituals performed here are believed to help individuals afflicted by spiritual distress.
As the demand for exorcisms continues to grow, the Michael Centre for Spiritual Healing remains committed to providing the necessary training and support for clergy across Asia.
