POLICY WIRE — Clovis, New Mexico — Law enforcement officials are currently investigating a recent armed robbery in New Mexico, which authorities believe may be connected to a homicide case in a neighboring state.
Two individuals, identified as Carlos Chee, aged 23, and Chino Aguilar, aged 21, are suspected of carrying out a gunpoint robbery at Mr. Budd’s dispensary in Clovis on the evening of April 16. Just four days following this incident, Clovis police received intelligence suggesting their involvement in a fatal incident that occurred in Utah.
Interstate Investigation and Allegations
Detectives in Clovis promptly shared the suspect information with their counterparts in Utah. Investigators there posited that Chee and Aguilar had reportedly met an individual in Salt Lake City with the intention of selling marijuana, subsequently leading to that person’s death.
The coordinated effort across state lines led to the apprehension of both suspects in Wyoming. They are now facing extradition proceedings to Utah, where they will confront charges related to the alleged murder.
The unfolding events highlight the complexities of criminal investigations that span multiple jurisdictions, requiring close cooperation among various law enforcement agencies.
