Navy Blue Angels Pilot Admits Unsafe Beach Flyover Was a Mistake, Not Political Stunt
Navy Blue Angels pilot admits low beach flyover was an unsafe mistake, not a political statement, amid praise from the Trump administration.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — The pilot involved in the viral low-altitude flyover by the Navy’s Blue Angels has admitted that the maneuver was an “unsafe” mistake, refuting claims that it was a display of political support for former President Donald Trump.
The incident, which went viral on social media, showed a Blue Angels jet performing a close pass over a beach, sparking speculation and controversy. The Navy’s flight squad commander labeled the maneuver as “unsafe.”
Despite the internal critique, the Trump administration publicly lauded the risky maneuver, adding fuel to the speculation that it was a show of support for the former president.
“The flyover was a mistake. It was not intended as any form of political statement,” said the pilot, whose name hasn’t been released in accordance with military protocol.
The Navy has launched an internal investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances and ensure such unsafe practices are not repeated.
