On this historic day in the form of the first Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq on 10 May 2026, the whole nation remembers not a victory that lasted four days alone; rather, the nation recognizes an epoch-making event which started with a severe ordeal faced by our country in 2025 and went on to shape our destiny in the coming years. The events began with a severe threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty due to the false flag incident in Indian Occupied Kashmir on 22 April 2025, followed by India’s unprovoked Operation Sindoor on 7 May, which killed innocent citizens in Pakistan and threatened our peace and sovereignty. However, in just three days from then, Pakistan’s retaliation through its Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos on 10 May was instrumental in restoring peace to the region and making changes to our national and regional profile. One year down the road, everything is different now.
Throughout this extremely fierce 72-to-96-hour battle, the first noticeable change was evident in national psychology and national unity. The nation had been divided for decades because of different political views in Pakistan. However, Marka-e-Haq united them all in one “unbreakable Bunyan-um-Marsoos” which was a solid and strong Quranic front made of 240 million people of Pakistan. From the cities of Karachi to the valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan, civilians, politicians, media personalities, and even people living outside of the country were on the same page in terms of their stance on this matter. The timeline released by ISPR has confirmed that after a few hours of India’s hostility, a consensus was formed. Government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Armed Forces under the command of Field Marshal Asim Munir, worked perfectly hand in hand.
From the military perspective, the picture changed radically in a single night. With their tri-service operation, Pakistan revealed the shortcomings of India’s much-lauded supremacy. As per the ISPR press releases after the ceasefire, the Pakistan Air Force gained an upper hand by devastating several Indian planes and modern equipment through accurate indigenous technologies. Our network-centric warfare strategy was proven superior during the operation. After May 2025, the Armed Forces of Pakistan have undergone rapid modernization. According to defense experts, there has been a rise of 35% in indigenous weaponry manufacturing, as reported by the Defense Export Promotion Organization. New inductees like the JF-17 Block III aircraft, improved air defense systems, and drones have enhanced our deterrence capability. It is evident that any future provocation will be answered with equal vigor, as mentioned by the DG ISPR on the event’s one-year anniversary. Though our valiant martyrs were mourned bitterly, their sacrifice elevated the stature of the Pakistani armed forces as a professional and disciplined organization.
In the diplomatic sphere, Marka-e-Haq has transformed Pakistan into a proactive and influential nation on the global stage. India’s strategy to ostracize Pakistan was an utter failure. Within days, Pakistan’s interaction with the UN, OIC, and its allies, including China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, revealed the deceitfulness of India’s claims. By 10 May 2025, hotline diplomacy had brought about a ceasefire, and Pakistan’s self-restraint had won it international admiration. Just one year later, we have achieved a monumental transformation in our international image. The second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is now seeing a fresh boost, with foreign investment exceeding $2.5 billion during 2025-26, as per information provided by the Board of Investment. Our relations with the Gulf countries have also seen an improvement, which has been demonstrated by remittances crossing the mark of $32 billion during FY 2025-26, registering a growth rate of 12%, primarily due to increased patriotism among our overseas citizens.
From an economic standpoint, this post-war period was characterized by great resilience and recovery. The temporary shock experienced due to Indian air strikes was quickly overcome. According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the index of KSE-100 regained momentum in a few weeks and increased by 28% by December 2025 on the back of strong performances in defense-related sectors and confidence in Pakistan due to its security. Exports of military equipment grew by 40% during the second half of 2025, as African and Asian nations ordered systems designed and manufactured by Pakistan based on their performance during war. Manufacturing centers in Punjab and Sindh saw significant expansion leading to job creation. Tourism in Azad Kashmir and other parts of the country was also revitalized as citizens flocked to visit heroic battlefronts. The government’s “Vision of Defense Industry 2030” initiated after victory aims to establish Pakistan as one of the world’s top ten exporters of military equipment by 2030.
Socially and culturally, Marka-e-Haq ignited a renaissance in youth engagement and national identity. Enrolment in armed forces academies surged by 22% in 2025-26 admissions, per official figures. Educational institutions introduced curricula on national defence and resilience. Documentaries like ISPR’s Marka-e-Haq and school programmes on Bunyan-um-Marsoos have instilled values of sacrifice and patriotism in the new generation. Women played pivotal roles, from frontline medical support to digital awareness campaigns, breaking stereotypes and reinforcing inclusive nation-building. The declaration of 10 May as Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ensures this spirit endures through annual parades, seminars, and tributes to our shuhada.
Today, in May 2026, the regional scenario too stands transformed. India’s narrative of dominance lies shattered. Border tensions persist but at lower intensity, with Pakistan maintaining a firm yet peaceful stance. Kashmir remains on the global agenda, validated by our principled stand. Pakistan has emerged as a responsible nuclear state that seeks dialogue while possessing the will and capability to defend every inch of its territory.
Marka-e-Haq was never limited to a mere four-day fight. It was the trigger that transformed the whole situation into one of total dominance, from weakness to an unbeatable position, from fragmentation to invincible unity, from defense to offense. As correctly quoted by ISPR on the anniversary day, “Any malicious plan will be met with still greater determination.” Exactly one year down the road, Pakistan is no longer the same country that had been victimized back in April 2025. We have emerged victorious, we have emerged proud, and we are now more committed than ever before to forging a better future for ourselves.
Pakistan Zindabad! Pakistan Armed Forces Zindabad!
