Nathan Owens has been sentenced to at least 35 years in prison for the murder of his stepdaughter, Carla Georgescu, at her Preston university flat.
POLICY WIRE — Preston, United Kingdom — Nathan Owens, 34, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 35 years following the murder of his 19-year-old stepdaughter, Carla Georgescu.
Owens was found guilty of the killing, which took place at the victim’s university accommodation in Preston, Lancashire, this past February. The court heard that Owens had traveled more than 100 miles overnight to reach the student flat.
The victim was discovered dead on her 20th birthday. Prosecutors established that Owens harbored a perverted sexual obsession with his stepdaughter prior to the attack.
During the legal proceedings, it was noted that Owens attempted to stage the crime scene after strangling Georgescu. Witnesses observed the defendant smirking and flicking his hair as the guilty verdict was delivered.
