Kacey Musgraves Exposes Kristi Noem’s Controversial Past in Sharp Retort
Kacey Musgraves calls out Kristi Noem's dog-killing past in viral social media clash. Political fallout ensues.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — Country music star Kacey Musgraves has launched a pointed response against former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem after the politician made disparaging remarks about her.
Noem, who recently shared a screenshot of a post by Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, expressed a preference for country singer Ella Langley over Musgraves and supported Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over Talarico. The comment sparked immediate backlash from Musgraves, who took to social media to reference a controversial incident from Noem’s past.
Musgraves responded with a sharp jab, writing, I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it. The comment alluded to Noem’s 2024 memoir, in which she detailed shooting her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, due to its behavior. Despite claiming the act demonstrated responsibility, the incident drew widespread criticism across political lines.
