Indonesia arrests 11 individuals linked to terrorist groups across six provinces, with investigations revealing online recruitment and training activities.
POLICY WIRE — Jakarta, Indonesia — Indonesian authorities have detained 11 people suspected of being connected to extremist networks in a multi-province operation that began on October 2.
The arrests took place in West Java, Central Java, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Riau, and North Maluku. The suspects, aged between 22 and 52, were identified by their initials, including HN, SM alias NM, HA, YDKAP, S, A, CG, J, MF, AF, and MW.

Densus 88, the country’s counterterrorism unit, confirmed the suspects are believed to be affiliated with Daulah Islamiyah, an umbrella term for local groups aligned with Islamic State ideology. Investigations revealed they were involved in network coordination, propaganda, recruitment, and planning attacks. Some had reportedly undergone physical and combat training, while others used online platforms to connect supporters across regions.
