Iconic ‘Star Wars’ Lightsabers from ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ Head to Auction
Auction features Darth Vader's lightsaber from 'I am your father' scene, plus other rare 'Star Wars' props. Expect millions.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — A legendary lightsaber from the 1980 film ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ is set to be sold at auction next month, featuring the iconic duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker where the phrase ‘I am your father’ is delivered.
The prop, used in the Cloud City showdown, is expected to command a minimum of $1 million when Heritage Auctions presents it as part of the Ultimate Star Wars Auction on November 12. The event will also feature over two dozen other ‘Star Wars’ lightsabers, including ones wielded by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in ‘Revenge of the Sith,’ each estimated to sell for at least $10,000.

Other items up for sale include a Boba Fett carbine blaster, a Rebel DH-17 Pistol, a Yoda puppet hand, and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet. A miniature snowspeeder once owned by Carrie Fisher is also included, with estimates suggesting it could fetch more than $10,000. In July, a similar prop featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand sold for $3.75 million, marking the highest price ever for a ‘Star Wars’ film prop.
