POLICY WIRE — London, UK — In a recent survey, Classic FM listeners have chosen Howard Shore’s The Lord of the Rings soundtrack as their top film score. This marks the fourth year in a row that Shore’s composition for the trilogy has led the Classic FM Movie Music Hall of Fame poll, which ranks the 100 favorite film scores of the audience.
Shore’s score for the film series, which includes The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002), and The Return of the King (2003), edged out John Williams’ theme for Schindler’s List, which came in second. John Barry’s Out Of Africa soundtrack secured the third spot, followed by Hans Zimmer’s Gladiator score in fourth, and Williams’ Jurassic Park theme in fifth.
