POLICY WIRE — Hong Kong, China — Temperatures in Hong Kong reached 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) on Saturday, as the Hong Kong Observatory issued warnings of continued extreme heat due to Severe Typhoon Dolphin.

The Hong Kong Observatory reported that the typhoon is bringing high temperatures to the region, with forecasts indicating that the hot weather will persist into early next week.

“With Severe Typhoon Dolphin moving towards the vicinity of Zhejiang and northern Fujian, its outer subsiding air will persistently bring extremely hot conditions,” the Observatory stated.

Residents — and authorities are advised to take necessary precautions against the extreme heat. The severe weather conditions are expected to impact daily activities and may lead to health risks for vulnerable populations.
