Fox News Parts Ways With Financial Journalist Maria Bartiromo After 12-Year Tenure

POLICY WIRE — New York, USA — Fox News Media has announced the departure of influential financial journalist Maria Bartiromo, ending a tenure that spanned more than a decade.

The company shared the news on Thursday, shortly after the Fox Business Network broadcast the final episode of the program named after the journalist.

Fox did not provide a specific reason for the separation.

In an official statement, the network wished Bartiromo the best in her future endeavors and thanked her for her contributions over the last 12½ years.

Bartiromo did not immediately respond to the news. As of Thursday afternoon, her X profile continued to display a banner inviting viewers to join her for “Mornings With Maria.”

President Donald Trump expressed his disbelief over the move on Truth Social late Thursday, describing Bartiromo as a true warrior and a total professional.

Trump noted that she hosted three different shows that were always number one, adding that her many fans would be unhappy with the news.

Bartiromo’s exit follows other high-profile departures from Fox News Media in recent years, including Bill O’Reilly and Tucker Carlson.

Additionally, Pete Hegseth left the network in 2024 following his nomination by Trump to serve as secretary of defense.

The network is restructuring the programming Bartiromo previously led. “Mornings with Maria” will be rebranded as Mornings with Fox Business, while “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” will become FBN’s Wall Street.

Both of these Fox Business Network programs will now utilize rotating anchors.

Meanwhile, Jason Chaffetz will serve as the interim host for the weekly Fox News program Sunday Morning Futures.

Trump, who has frequently praised Bartiromo as a great reporter, has interviewed her numerous times throughout their professional relationship.

Vice President JD Vance spoke with reporters Thursday afternoon, stating he was unaware of the backstory and had not spoken with Bartiromo.

Vance described Bartiromo as a very dear friend and an amazing talent, stating, I love Maria. I think she’s an amazing person, an amazing talent. He added that she would do great in whatever she pursues next.

The departure comes amid past legal challenges. In 2025, the voting technology firm Smartmatic filed a lawsuit alleging Bartiromo broadcast false rumors regarding election fraud, a claim she strongly denied.

Bartiromo also previously addressed a lawsuit involving Dominion Voting Systems, calling it absurd to suggest she personally lobbied former Attorney General William Barr to investigate 2020 voter fraud claims.

She maintained that she was simply performing her journalistic duties by asking follow-up questions. That specific legal matter was settled in 2023.

Prior to her time at Fox, Bartiromo spent 20 years as a financial journalist at CNBC, where she won an Emmy for a Google documentary and pioneered live daily reports from the New York Stock Exchange floor.

Her earlier career included a tenure at CNN.
