POLICY WIRE — North Miami Beach, United States — A Florida mother is facing criminal charges after allegedly leaving her four children unattended at their home while she embarked on a three-day cruise, according to law enforcement reports.
Nathalie Belizaire, 29, reportedly left the four minors—including a two-month-old infant and a two-year-old—at her North Miami Beach apartment for a trip aboard the Carnival Conquest ship on September 25. The children’s father discovered what appeared to be a cruise ticket posted on Belizaire’s WhatsApp story and believed that a relative would be looking after the kids during her absence.

Upon visiting the residence on September 26, the father noticed the TV was on and heard the children inside, prompting him to call police. Body-cam footage from the incident showed officers discovering the four children hiding in a bathroom. During a bond hearing, Judge Mindy Glazer criticized the situation, stating that a two-month-old requires constant care. Belizaire’s attorney denied the allegations, but the judge expressed disbelief at the circumstances.
