FIFA Leases $4M Space in Trump Tower Amid Empty Office Controversy
FIFA leases $4M in Trump Tower, but space remains unused. Conflicts and close ties with Trump raise questions.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — FIFA has leased a high-cost office space in Trump Tower for $4 million annually, despite the location remaining largely unoccupied, according to a report.
The organization signed a seven-year lease approximately a year before this summer’s World Cup, with most of its U.S. staff based in Miami. No plans have been announced to utilize the New York location, sparking concerns among some officials about the financial commitment and potential conflicts of interest.
FIFA’s decision to secure the space has drawn scrutiny, especially given its close ties with President Donald Trump and FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The two have maintained a strong connection since 2018, with Infantino even presenting Trump with the FIFA Peace Prize in 2025. A former FIFA governance head criticized the deal as a conflict of interest, while another official called it unnecessary pandering.
