POLICY WIRE — Radlett, United Kingdom — A former prep school instructor has been handed a seven-year prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple counts of indecency involving a student she once tutored.

Deborah Franklin, 65, was sentenced following a five-day trial at St Albans Crown Court. She faced eight charges of gross indecency with a child under 14 between 1991 and 1995. The court heard that she had denied all allegations during the proceedings.

The victim, who is entitled to anonymity, shared that the abuse has shaped his life for decades. He stated, “I have carried the abuse with me throughout my life. It has been a constant shadow.” Franklin, who previously lived on Fairfield Close in Radlett, was charged in March 2025 after police received a report in March 2024.
